We are proud to have a range imaging tools available to assist with diagnosis. For more information please click the links below -
Radiography is the use of electromagnetic radiation such as X-rays to create an image of bony structures to assist in the diagnosis of injury or disease. Our mobile digital radiography unit enables us to take and review radiographs either in the field or at our clinic.
Ultrasonography (often known as ‘scanning’) is the use of ultrasound to create an image of internal body structures. We have a number of ultrasound units enabling us to perform examination of tendons, muscles, joints and internal organs including those in the mare’s reproductive tract.
Gastroscopy is the use of a specialist endoscope (a thin flexible tube containing a camera and light) passed into the oesophagus and stomach to provide an image and assist with diagnosis of conditions such as gastric ulcers. Horses undergoing gastroscopy should not be fed for 12 -15 hours prior to the procedure to ensure the stomach is empty and a good image can be obtained. Gastroscopy needs to be carried out at our clinic.
Endoscopy is the use of a thin flexible camera to enable evaluation of the upper airway and identify conditions affecting the nasal passages, larynx, pharynx, guttural pouches and the trachea. Our mobile digital endoscopy unit enables us to perform this procedure at your yard or in our clinic.
Oroscopy is the use of a small camera in the mouth to identify dental issues such caries (tooth cavities) or diastemas (gaps between the teeth). Early detection and treatment of such issues can avoid more complex (and costly!) issues developing making our oroscope a really valuable tool. Our portable oroscope unit enables it to be used either at your yard or at our clinic.
